The town Kasane is a logistical and administrative hub for the surrounding area. It sits on the banks of the Chobe River and is a gate way to the Chobe National Park. It is also an access point for nearby Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, Livingstone in Zambia and Namibia’s Caprivi Strip.

Just a few kilometres from Kasane, Botswana, Zambia, Namibia and Zimbabwe all meet where the Chobe River becomes the Zambezi. The Kazungula ferry crosses between Botswana and Zambia.

Numerous guest houses and lodges can be found along the main road that runs along the river and further inland, providing great access for travellers wishing to enjoy the park. Some of the lodges have fantastic views of the stunning river and its wildlife. Visitors often enjoy a morning game drive and an afternoon boat cruise, followed by an afternoon game drive the next day.  Typically the mornings are the best time to spot predators and the afternoons better for game such as elephants, buffalo and much more. Day trips to Victoria Falls, on 80 kilometers away, are also a popular option.

A small mall and various other shops along the main street through Kasane sell all basic commodities and locally produced arts and crafts.
